Street Food Vending

Consultation has concluded

The City of Oshawa is undertaking an industry and public stakeholder consultation to discuss Street Food Vendors and their role within the city.

For the purpose of the consultation, Street Food Vendors include food trucks, ice cream trucks, hot dog carts and other mobile/motorized refreshment vehicles. This consultation excludes stationary refreshment vehicles (i.e. refreshment vehicles that stay on a single lot for more than seven days in a year).

Feedback will be received until end of day Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

Community members, restaurant owners and current/potential street food vendors are invited to participate in one of three ways:

  • complete a stakeholder-specific survey online on Connect Oshawa;
  • complete a stakeholder-specific survey on paper at Service Oshawa, located at City Hall (50 Centre St. S.); or,
  • discuss the topic in-person with City staff at a Street Food Vending Drop-In Open House on:
    • Wednesday, February 28 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the South Oshawa Community Centre (1455 Cedar St.);
    • Thursday, March 1 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at City Hall (50 Centre St. S.); or,
    • Thursday, March 1 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Legends Centre (1661 Harmony Rd. N.).

Feedback will be received until end of day Wednesday, March 14, and considered in the development of regulatory policy options relating to the Licensing By-law 120-2005 and the Highway Vending By-law 33-92.
