What is a Cultural Hub? There is no single definition, but a basic starting point (adapted from the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund) would be a physical space where people gather collectively to experience arts or heritage related activities and/or a facility which brings together and supports the arts and/or heritage sectors and creative disciplines.

Phase 1 of the Study’s public and stakeholder consultation was held earlier this year and resulted in a vision for an accessible and inclusive space for creative participation supporting artists, creatives, and members of the public with arts programming and opportunities for creative expression.

Architect firm Giaimo has translated the community’s collective feedback into three exciting preliminary designs, which include conceptual exteriors (i.e. potential building facades, entrances, signage, etc.) and layouts of interior spaces/areas (i.e. potential locations for workshops/classrooms and administrative offices).

The City and project consultant Nordicity are interested in understanding which conceptual design and scale best resonates with the Oshawa community, and will use public and stakeholder input to inform the Feasibility Study’s final recommendations.

Have your say!

Community members are invited to participate in one of two ways:

  1. Complete the online feedback form or on paper at Service Oshawa, located at City Hall (50 Centre St. S.); or,
  2. Visit the Arts Resource Centre (45 Queen St.) or a City recreation facility to view the design concepts and complete a paper feedback form.

The form will take approximately five minutes to complete, and will be open until noon on Monday, September 12, 2022. All individual responses will be anonymous.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
